New Nissan Quest Teaser Arrives Early 2011 as 2012 model years
Sales for the 2012 Nissan Quest will start at the beginning of 2011 and as you can see the car’s new fascia looks way different than the current ongoing version.
The Japanese carmaker says the new 2012 Nissan Quest will meet all the needs of size, safety, functionality and comfort a minivan customer would want. While details are limited, the Quest is described as “the perfect vehicle for buyers needing the size, safety, functionality and comfort that a minivan has to offer, without sacrificing style or driving pleasure.” It will feature a prominent grille, huge mirrors, and stylish headlights.
Based on the Japanese-market nissan elgrand van(http://autoten.com/2010/04/05/2010-nissan-elgrand-midesize-mpv-codename-j42h-rednering-and-speculation/), the Quest will likely be powered by a 3.7-liter VQ V6 engine with up to 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) according to InsideLine. Front-wheel drive will be standard, but there are rumors all-wheel drive may be offered as an option.
Infiniti version of the van released later in 2011
Another rumor is that there will be an all-wheel-drive-only Infiniti version of the van released later in 2011, which would give Nissan’s luxury division its first minivan. This isn’t that far-fetched. In Japan the El Grand is considered a luxury vehicle, and it would give Infiniti an extra-large people mover alongside the new QX56 sport-utility, which is smaller than its predecessor. Plus, it is built in Japan, and Infiniti has said that all of its vehicles will be built in Japan to ensure quality.
Details are slim as of this writing, but what we can gather from this shadowy photo is that the new Quest will look substantially different than the odd-looking outgoing model. While many automakers have been abandoning the minivan segment, Japanese rivals at Toyota and Honda continue to duke it out – the former with their new Sienna and the latter with their soon-to-be all-new Odyssey. Whether because of its avante-garde styling or occasionally indifferent quality control, Nissan’s current Quest has never really found its sales groove here in North America. Will the new model change things? Only time will tell.
Nissan will release full details on the new Quest this fall, with its debut set for the Los Angeles auto show in November. Sales will start in December or January
